Schenker Saudi Arabia Earthquake relief camp

The Schenker Saudi Arabia Earthquake relief camp was established in the ministerial district, 5 minutes from the city center in Riyadh, at 8:55 hours on Saturday October 8 2005, South Asia was struck by the worst ever earthquake affected the Northern areas of Pakistan mainly, causing human damages at an unprecedented level leaving more than 54,000 men, women and children dead. More than 63,000 severely injured. More than 2.5 Million people homeless in extreme cold & rain. This is already winter in the affected areas of Pakistan. They need everything from food to water, from tents to blankets, from medicines to warm clothes, from doctors to rescue workers, from candles to electricity generators.

The camp was started on Tuesday October 11 2005, with only very few items donated by close relatives and friends. Schenker immediately launched a communication campaign to inform as many people as possible about the camp. We should be proud of today's youth for showing a great passion and going forward to any level to inform more and more people about the camp. Things progressed well and the camp started overflowing with relief goods in all forms. On Saturday October 15th we loaded one large truck with tents, blankets, medicines, food and water and sent it urgently to Pakistan through Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh. On Monday October 17 2005 one 40ft high cube container was loaded with is going to be transported today to Karachi and than from there to the affected areas. So far, the total of 15 trucks containing mainly tents, blankets, medicines and warm clothes have already been delivered to the embassy officials for transportation to Pakistan.

People are generously offering relief goods to camp round the clock and we do not know how long the camp will continue working and how for people will go to donating for humanity. The bottom-line is, the response has been overwhelming.
